Introducing the 2026 Toyota Hilux to Suncamper
At the Victorian Show, we were also proud to unveil the new Toyota HiLux WorkMate chassis — and even more exciting, this will now become the standard HiLux platform for all future Suncamper builds.
We’ve been building on the Toyota HiLux for over 35 years, and there’s a reason it’s been such a constant in our range. It’s proven, reliable, simple, and tough — exactly what you want as the foundation of a motorhome designed for Australian conditions.
But like everything, it evolves.
Compared to the previous generation, the new HiLux WorkMate platform brings refinements across ride comfort, chassis strength, safety technology, and overall drivability. The updated suspension tuning delivers a more composed ride under load, the ladder-frame chassis continues Toyota’s reputation for durability, and the latest safety systems provide greater confidence behind the wheel. It still carries the dependable 2.8L turbo-diesel and proven 4×4 capability Australians trust — but now with smarter integration and improved refinement.
For us, the move to the new WorkMate chassis is about consistency and future-proofing the range.
It ensures all new HiLux-based Suncampers are built on Toyota’s latest platform, with long-term parts support, updated engineering standards, and the reliability that has underpinned our builds for decades. After 35 years of refining layouts, weight distribution, and structural integration on the HiLux, we know this platform inside and out — and this next chapter allows us to continue improving what we do best.
The HiLux has always represented dependable adventure. The new WorkMate chassis simply strengthens that foundation.
If you saw it at the show, we’d love to hear your thoughts.
